If flying overseas to get to your river cruise experience has become more of a burden than a thrill, you may be thinking…

”Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something here in Canada?”

Enjoy the scenic beauty of the calm interconnected lakes, rivers and locks of the World Heritage Rideau Canal and the historic Trent-Severn Waterway located in Ontario.  Experience the comfort of the 45 passenger Kawartha Voyageur…a Canadian riverboat with a dining room, lounge and twin lower berth cabins with private facilities.

There are several 5 day cruise routes available…Parking is in Peterborough for the KAWARTHA cruise between Peterborough and Big Chute which is just east of Georgian Bay, the QUINTE cruise between Peterborough and Kingston and the TRENT AUTUMN/COLOUR cruise between Trenton and Rosedale west of Fenelon Falls.  Parking is in Kingston for the RIDEAU cruise between Kingston and Ottawa. Some passengers combine two or three cruise routes into a 10 or 15 day voyage.

All cruises are one-way by SHIP and one-way by BUS.  The 2 to 2.5 hour bus ride by highway coach is either at the first or at the end of your cruise depending on the cruise date.  Since Peterborough is located half way between Trenton and Rosedale, our Trent Autumn/Colour cruises have a one hour bus ride before and after the cruise.  The parking and busing are included in your fare.

Many passengers return each year to enjoy the casual friendly atmosphere, interesting conversations and great food aboard the Kawartha Voyageur.  Our delicious SET menu meals are plate served at your table.  A dozen dedicated crew and the Captain are your hosts during the cruise.  The majority of passengers originate from Ontario and are in the 65+ demographic with most in the mid seventies to mid eighties age range.  It is very important that all passengers are in good health and do not present undue problems for our crew or fellow passengers.  While certain members of the crew are trained to provide first aid, emergency medical assistance will not be immediately available or accessible in some areas.

The Kawartha Voyageur does not travel at night.  The ship usually cruises from breakfast at 8:00 am until late afternoon and docks for the night at a lock station, village or town.  Passenger cabins have individual air conditioning, heat and a screened window opening.  Each cabin has a toilet, vanity and 120 volt AC lighting and receptacles. There are shelves above each bed and clothes hangers over the foot of the bed.  There is one foot of clearance under the beds to stow luggage.  Single showers with their own change area are located down the hall so you will need attire to get to the showers. There is no charge for wifi internet aboard and there is NO TIPPING.

Ontario Waterway Cruises Inc. is focused on providing passengers a relaxing, enjoyable holiday experience that many continue to value and return for year after year.  We are currently over 80% booked for 2026 and are usually fully booked by mid April.  Once any given cruise date is fully booked, a wait list is set up for that cruise.  A person can place their name on as many cruise dates as they like.  There is no obligation to take the cruise if your name comes up on a particular cruise date and we give you a call.  If the date does not suit, we just call the next name on the wait list.
