Rosy cheeks are timeless. However, the important thing with blush is placement. For a classic, glamorous look, apply blush to your cheekbones, starting in line with your irises. Then, sweep the colour outwards towards your temples and up towards the hairline. Cream or powder blushes with blurring features work best on mature skin. Avoid overly matte powders that can look cakey, or liquid blushes that may settle into lines.
For a fresh appearance, step back and smile into the mirror to locate the apples of your cheeks (the part that pops when you smile). Then, dab cream blush in the centre of your cheeks with your fingertips, blending it outwards in a circular shape, while making sure to keep it high and centred on the apples – not too low or too far inwards – in order to give the illusion of lifting your face. For additional blending, use a foundation brush or a sponge and lightly tap around the edges of the application to soften. If you prefer powder blush, follow the same technique – concentrate most of the colour in the middle of the apple and blend outwards.
