“This is not the ending I want,” said Erica Kane in the last moments of All My Children’s final episode last Friday. After all these years, All My Children signed off with a proposal, heartbreak, a single gun shot and a cliffhanger ending. For more than 40 years, Erica Kane’s life in Pine Valley life, played by actress Susan Lucci, was the stuff of soap opera legend. After all the breathless romance and ruthless betrayals, bouts of amnesia, marrying and cheating, dieing and coming back from the dead, it’s now all over. Through the years, the show helped launch the careers of Kelly Ripa , Sarah Michelle Gellar, Josh Duhamel , Amanda Seyfried, Melissa Leo, Mischa Barton, Kim Delany, Christian Slater , Michelle Trachtenberg , and, of course, Susan Lucci. Thanks for 41 years of unforgettable afternoon drama.
