As we age, our facial features naturally begin to change. Eyebrows become sparser, lips lose volume and the skin on our face and around our eyes become less taut. As a result we lose some of the definition and structure we once had. But rather than fight it, enhance it. There are easy ways to modify your makeup to look and feel your most fabulous.
Filling in our eyebrows is the most effective thing we can do to detract from skin that has begun to travel southwards. The arch is key in providing the lift we are looking for. For a natural look, use shadows or fine tipped pencils in two consecutive shades, choose colours that are neutral and taupey and not too warm, the lighter one should be closest to your natural brow colour.

Using an angled eyebrow brush or pencil, use the lighter colour to build your shape following the natural arch as much as possible. Next, feather in small, hair-like strokes where your eyebrows begin. Use a light hand to avoid making the inner third of the brows too dark or squared off as this will make the eyes seem closer together. Don’t forget to pay attention to the outer third known as the tail – it makes you look polished. Then with the darker shade, go back in to accentuate the arch and fill in any bald spots. Finally, using a spoolie brush, (a round mascara-like wand), brush through the brows to blend and soften.
