Most children today spend their free time playing games on one of their many smart devices. Mesmerized by glowing screens and sensory-overloaded graphics, they spend hours absorbed by these highly addictive games, which are constructed to appeal to short-term attention spans keeping them hooked through virtual “rewards” and “progress loops”.

Toys weren’t always like this. Once upon a time, they were tangible, mechanical and required imagination. They didn’t rely on glowing screens or high-speed WiFi to captivate our senses. Instead, these beloved low-tech toys of yore acted as conduits that would spark our creativity and provide endless hours of creative fun.

This edition of Zoomer’s trivia challenge brings you back to the golden age of toys – talking dolls, electric train sets, plastic soldiers or classic boardgames.

We hope you’ll remember the fun you had playing these toys with friends or neighbours as well as the anticipation you felt opening birthday or Christmas presents and the thrill of finally being able to play with that much yearned-for toy.
