Canadian country legend Tim Hicks chats with Alan Frew in the latest instalment of Life Frew Music, a podcast series hosted by the Canadian rock legend and Glass Tiger frontman (in partnership with Zoomer.com and ZoomerRadio.ca).

Born in Brockville, Ont., and raised in Southern Ontario’s Niagara Region, Hicks rose to the top of the country charts with hits like What a Song Should Do and No Truck Song. The 46-year-old Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) award winner unpacks his career with Frew, from his early musical influences – including the Beatles, Blue Rodeo and Bryan Adams – to building his reputation one bar gig to finally establishing himself in Nashville and on stages throughout the world.

In a thoughtful and funny exchange, Hicks also shares his personal experiences of entertaining our troops overseas, what it’s like to raise his two kids in today’s world and why performing live still feels as essential to him as breathing: “Music is the same to me as my heartbeat.”
