As the Toronto Blue Jays take the field against the defending champions Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2025 World Series, baseball fever is gripping the nation.
Led by stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer and Kevin Gausman, and backed by a likeable crew of scrappy veterans orchestrated by manager John Schneider, the Blue Jays have put together a magical October: first despatching the New York Yankees in short order before squeaking by the Seattle Mariners in an epic back-and-forth seven-game series.
Their opponents across the diamond are the mighty Dodgers, a team stacked with a Hollywood-worthy cast of high-priced luminaries, led by the incomparable Japanese legend Shohei Ohtani, whose awe-inspiring combination of power pitching and home-run hitting hasn’t been witnessed since the days of Babe Ruth.
And while the Dodgers’ star-laden lineup always seems to propel manager David Roberts’ club deep into the post-season – they’re playing in their third World Series since 2020 – it’s been more than three decades since the Bluebirds last appeared in the Fall Classic, not since 1992 and 1993, when they won back-to-back titles and captured the hearts of fans across the country.
So, to honour their return to the World Series spotlight after three long decades, we’re making the Blue Jays the subject of this week’s trivia challenge.
